Over the Influence
Over The Influence approached us with a desire to refresh and elevate their overall aesthetic and branding to coincide with the launch of their sprawling Los Angeles Arts District gallery and retail complex.
The website was approached as an exercise in "warm brutalism". Taking cues from the gallery space itself, with its minimal appropriation of a century-old warehouse building, it's confidently curated bold and energetic artwork, we settled on a UI that accurately translated the vibe of OTI's physical spaces
Recognizing OTI's desire to establish itself as an institutional-level gallery, while maintaining an outsider curatorial program, we developed a visual language for the exhibitions that felt at once heirloom and modern, conveying an urgent reverence.
In addition to the gallery space, 2/3 of the gallery's frontage was designed to operate as a hybrid boutique/gallery store. We consulted on strategy, retail layout and marketing leading into the launch of the space. In addition, we co-produced a pop-up collaboration with Huf Worldwide to coincide with the Cleon Peterson exhibition. The pop-up included exclusive Huf product designed by Cleon as well as prints and a specially designed environmental experience
